What would I do without my cameraphone?!? It’s always near by and it takes decent pictures! Here’s Dylan sportin’ the ’50′s dad look in his 3D glasses.

Saturday, June 12th, 2010sweetness overload
Saturday, June 5th, 2010Overall, Dylan is a fantastic big brother. I mean, he does have his grabby moments where he snatches things away from Cameron. And, he has his spazzy moments where his sheer exuberance is a threat to Cameron’s safety! But, overall, he’s very loving and very sweet. I love that this picture captures that.
flashback near-Friday
Thursday, April 29th, 2010A year ago today, Cameron was about 24-weeks in-utero and was up and at ‘em, tumbling and kicking away in the wee hours of the morning (5am-ish!). Dylan was super-enthused about the prospect of having a little sister, and we hoped his enthusiasm wouldn’t wane. As it turns out, we got lucky! These kids adore each other.
Tonight, on our way upstairs, Cameron attempted climbing (the step is still a little too high for her to get her knee up) and Dylan sat next to her and declared, “I’m giving her all my love” and leaned in to give her kisses. Quite by coincidence, Cameron was up at 5:30 this morning, and her first inclination was to start patting Dylan’s head and yammering away in his direction. She still is often beside herself with joy when she sees him — her legs kick like crazy and she starts squealing like mad. How long is this unbridled enthusiasm for each other gonna last??
Cameron is 7 months already???
Tuesday, March 16th, 2010Though it’s been harder to just whip out the camera (and carry it along, for that matter), the camera still lives! Dylan loved sharing a bath with Cameron the other day. Cameron was fine, but seemed a bit more concerned about the space that suddenly wasn’t just all her’s! She really loves the bath!
In other news, she finally started opening her mouth to solids (about a couple of days ago). We believe avocado was the “breakthrough” food. But, today, after seeing the pediatrician, we’re pausing new foods (on Day 4 of avocado) and have had her vaccines delayed because of some hives that just manifest yesterday. The doctor believes it’s viral (oh, lordy, when will we finally be done with these viruses??) and will clear in a couple of days, but she didn’t want to confuse the cause with vaccinations.
At this point, Cameron is in the 70-something percentile for weight and still at the 95th for height and looking good otherwise. We’ll take her back for vaccinations in about two weeks…!
I can’t believe she’s already 7 months old. I know I repeat myself when I say this, but time really is flying….
li’l mini-Tom
Monday, February 22nd, 2010Just like Tom, Dylan loves wearing shades. He pretty much harassed me until I took his picture!! He knows he looks good…!

Monday, February 8th, 2010One of the sweetest things we see these days is the kids genuinely just loving playing with each other. Cameron is still so little, but she gets it. When we chase Dylan around the kitchen or vice-versa, she’s just laughing and squealing and kicking her little legs in utter excitement! When we pick him up from preschool, her face just lights up (and, again, she starts kicking excitedly) and she starts trying to talk. Dylan’s first instinct is to always touch her hand to greet her and, once in the car, he reaches out to hold her hand all of the time. She cranes her neck so she can see him and he yammers away and makes her laugh.
A lot of times when we’re at home, Dylan will also just get down on the ground–on his belly, too–and just hang out with her. He’ll try reading her stories and he’ll hand her toys. He even tells us, “I want to play with Cameron.”
As far as we’re concerned, she’s growing way too quickly, but at the same time, we’re eager for them to be able to really play together. We can tell they’ll be good buddies.
21.5 weeks and what a week, it was!
Saturday, January 9th, 2010Well, we started the week off well enough — Tom was on furlough and joined us for Dylan’s gymnastics session on Monday morning. Afterwards, I went to work and Tom took the kids to the park! And, whaddaya know? Poor little Dylan teetered on a playground structure platform and toppled backwards into the sand. According to Tom, the fall was only about 2-ish feet, but Dylan landed square on his butt and he extended his arm to catch himself (as he’ll tell you himself!) and that was enough to do some damage!
Tom took him to Urgent Care, but Dylan passed all of the range-of-motion tests so they sent them home. But, the next morning, Dylan was pretty sore and he couldn’t move without crying out and wincing, so we decided to take him back for some x-rays.
It was also Cameron’s 4-month appointment with the doctor (slightly delayed, but on-track for her vaccinations), so I took her in while Tom was with Dylan. Cameron got her vaccinations and a glowing report — 95th percentile for weight, 90th for height, and (wow) 75th for head circumference!! This little girl is so sweet and is growing increasingly inquisitive. She’s grabbing for everything in sight — today, she even played with Wedgits with Dylan — and she continues to have a pretty strong interest in solids. Luckily, we have nothing to worry about with our dear little girl!
Cameron was done with the doctor before Dylan was (and even though she wailed when she got her two shots in her thighs and she tried to spit out the oral vaccine, a little nursing set her right)….
When we got to Dylan’s exam room, I discovered (because, of course, Tom was already there), his elbow was fractured! So, here he is with his splint and sling!
He has been a trooper throughout this whole thing. After the doctor’s office, he still wanted to go to school and the teachers reported he did great! He needed a lot of help playing with things and he complained about the splint being “so confusing,” but overall, he did well!
Back at home, he was still having trouble putting his GeoTrax together so he good-naturedly told me his “splint was soooo annoyin’!” We’re happy he’s not in great pain anymore. Next week, we go to Orthopedics to see if he needs a cast. Also, we’re, of course, very thrilled with our Pink Princess, who’s as healthy and as jolly as can be! Watching her play now just elicits endless smiles!!

Monday, November 30th, 2009oh, yeah…the farmer’s market
Friday, October 23rd, 2009Well, I’ve given up on trying to stay downtown between the end of Dylan’s story time and the beginning of the Farmer’s Market! The past couple of weeks, Dylan has been downright adamant about not going and since I’m way more enthusiastic about summer produce anyway, I’ve just taken us all home at his request!
We still had to eat lunch, though, so to make it “more exciting,” we had a picnic lunch at home. Yep, we just spread out the blanket and slapped our plates down and ate!
Cameron is alert for about 2 hours at a time now, so it was actually super nice to be able to picnic at home. While we ate, she “played” on her playmat! All were content!
dylan’s new hair cut
Thursday, October 15th, 2009The storm has passed and today, Dylan got another hair cut. When he was finished, we went to The Ugly Mug for steamed soy milk and vegan scones. The yumminess of the scone as well as the presence of their fish tank inspired him to declare, “I love this place!” Then, we went to story time where we listened to bug-themed stories and made a “caterpillar” necklace. Just like last week, Dylan gave his daddy the project he made!!
