Cameron singing “Lean On Me”
…and Chloe closes with “hum hum hum hum”…!
smooches
Chloe’s first Valentine’s Day! I think we started her on wheat that day so she could enjoy the pancakes with us!

Happy Valentine’s Day
Tom was so sweet and made heart-shaped pancakes topped with berries and chocolate chips for all of us. The drink is orange juice and berries with bubbly water!! Nice way to start the work day!

lean on me
Cameron’s current favorite song is the Glee Cast version of “Lean on Me”. She now knows all the words and she can really carry the tune!! Here, she’s singing it to break in the cheap-y karaoke machine we got to help entertain the bigger kids for Chloe’s first birthday (yes, these blog posts are moving backwards in time! This picture was taken 2/13).

Shoe shopping (last week 2/22)!
Chloe started walking a few weeks before her first birthday. We saved all of these little booties for her (from Cameron) but, of course, they are all lost in the shuffle. At this point, we’ve managed to recover 5 separate ones; 2 match (miraculously!) and the other 3 are different sizes.
Since she was going to be moved to the toddler room, she needed shoes for outdoor play, though, so we had to go shopping!
We went with the red ones. They’re still a little too big (size 4) and she stumbles a lot in them, but they look adorable on her!

Chloe’s first trip to the Aquarium
On President’s Day, the kids had the day off from school and pre-school was closed, too, so Heather and I took the kids to Aquarium for the day. This was Chloe’s first trip (when I chaperoned Dylan’s field trip a little earlier this year, she wasn’t allowed to go!). She loved it!!! Look at that sweet face! I do believe she’s giving me a thumb’s up! 😉
She loved the infant/toddler area! Technically, the other kids aren’t really allowed in there, but what’s a mom to do?? Leave her kids alone in a crowded public place?? I think not.
Dylan and Cameron were really good about being careful with Chloe and with other little kids that came in, though.
She really loved the “waterbed” thingy!
I couldn’t believe it, but we shut that place down! We didn’t even get a chance to enter the aviary as it closed at dusk so the birds could settle in for the night! We had to settle for looking at them through these “telescopes.”
Having the waves wash over us in this glass tunnel is always a hit!
Even though we were there all day, we didn’t get a chance to see the seahorses or the jellies this time around…it was soo crowded! We were very fortunate to have our membership cards…we got in without waiting in a mondo line!

geocaching
Got to go geocaching with the whole family today…and with Nate, Camille and their mom and dad!! I was stoked because I love geocaching way more than anybody else in our family does, so having Kathleen (Nate’s mom) suggest it was an awesome way to get everyone more into it!
I picked out the area–Seymour Marine Discovery Center–because I knew there were lots to be found and that there were some kid-friendly ones, too, that were likely to have swag. Plus, if the kids got bored, there’s always the whale bones to look at or just the whole area to run around in…
Dylan turned out to be the eagle-eye in our group. He was the first to find this one (one I’d never found before either) just hanging off a low bush!
Nate is telling Dylan where the GPS is pointing…it just so happens that there were also tons of dolphins swimming very close to shore in that direction as well! We got a special treat in being able to see them during our search!
You can see, it was a gorgeous day…the view of the ocean never gets old!!
Just in case, y’all don’t remember, Nate and Dylan went to pre-school together…we’re putting in efforts to keep the friendship strong. They’re so sweet together and we love Nate’s family!
Well, the boys are at different elementary schools now, but Nate’s little sister Camille is in the pre-school with Cameron now! It was very sweet that they were so excited to see one another, too! They headed out together, hand in hand….
Dylan also found our final cache of the morning! While we were all fussing with devices looking up hints and checking coordinates, Dylan pipes up with, “hey! there’s something stuck in here[a brick he found under a bush]!” and, boom(!), there was the geocache!
We had to part ways after finding this one…both Cameron and Camille, on the pre-school’s schedule– were clearly ready to wrap it up!
It was such a beautiful Santa Cruz day! But, I apparently bad ju-ju’d us by writing that post about Cameron’s tantrums improving…she’s had some epic meltdowns these past couple of days, including today!
And Dylan has been spending nearly every Friday night at Heather’s house (we picked him up from their place on our way to geocaching this morning)…!All this to say that the kids are sleeping like logs (while Tom saws some!!)
It seems a good time to catch up with the blog!
