As part of our Father’s Day celebration this year, we went on a camping trip to Big Basin–we didn’t want to go tooooo far just in case things didn’t pan out with little Chloe. We camped in Blooms Creek again and got a campsite adjacent to HAT’s family (Heather’s mom and pop came as well!!!).
The first night of camping was Father’s Day, so Heather and I did the “cooking” while Tom and Assaf drank Simple Times beer!
It was only a 2-nighter, so we only managed to squeeze in one long hike and a couple of meals. The kids did fantastic! They hiked alllll day on Monday, essentially doing just as much hiking/walking as the grown-ups! And they just loved it. They were actually proactively asking to go on hikes!
This year, we also signed up for the Capture California game so on our first day of camp, having rushed out of the house before printing out a pre-designed flag, Dylan and I made our own flag. We’ve been having fun taking it exploring.
Anyway, without further ado, here are some photo highlights of Chloe’s first camping trip!
We combed the store looking for good flag material…I considered getting an onesie on clearance, but then we found the bandanas! Dylan and Cameron found a good flag pole outside, we got some safety pins and our flag was “born!”
Dylan is really interested in sewing. We thought we’d sew a raccoon postcard in the middle of our flag, but that didn’t work out.
We tried grilling strawberries marinated in balsamic and rolled in brown sugar for a special Father’s Day treat. It was pretty good, but plain strawberries at this time of year are perfect just as-is!
