Tom had another CSU conference and this time it was in SF! Tom took the train up to the city early on Thursday morning and I drove up with the kids after Dylan’s school day ended. We were all pretty excited about it as these trips are always good fun for us, but boy did we get a crummy room. Moral of the hotel story: don’t stay at the Powell Hotel. The Powell cable car turntable is right outside the door, sure, but the rooms were tiny, the bedskirt was ripped, previous guests have complained about bedbugs, and it’s pet-friendly!
But, of course, we didn’t let a shabby, over-priced room get us totally down! While Tom was at his meeting on Friday morning, the kids and I took a short stroll over to Yerba Buena Gardens to ride the carousel and to explore the Children’s Creativity Museum. He met us there after his meeting ended and, from there, we ambled back to Union Square and took the cable car to the Cable Car Museum, a Dylan must-see!
While we waited for the valet to get our car (so we could get our stroller out), we watched the cable cars at the turntable.
Singing into a live mic was like a dream-come-true for Dylan! He’s been wanting to plug in mics at home for eons!!
After Tom joined us, we snacked on fruit outside the musuem. It was an absolutely gorgeous day!
Before heading for the cable cars, the kids rode the carousel again.
This was our second time at the museum and it was still just as interesting as before
Dylan clearly had fun, but Cameron was extremely tired….She was cranky up until the point where she fell asleep on Tom’s shoulder!
Chloe was happy! Give this girl some O’s and she’s good to go!
We couldn’t stay too long in SF since we had a bday party to attend (and a playdate) on Saturday, but we enjoyed the time we spent there. We had superb food at Loving Hut (across the street from the hotel); Source and Herbivore. We decided that , of all the CSU conferences so far, this was the worst accommodations, but the best food!
