a big mess

The kids basically got 2 weeks off from school as their winter break. We kicked off the week with a baking day–I don’t think any of us got dressed! I figured, we were going to get messy anyway, why bother making more laundry?!?

my helper

I got some volunteer helpers….I let Chloe measure stuff into a bowl, but then I basically re-measured everything (behind her back!) once it was time to actually mix the ingredients together….

But, Dylan also helped….

Here’s Cameron looking festive! We actually made the sugar cookie dough in the morning; the dough was ready by the time Cameron’s school buddy arrived for a play date, so I put the kids to work decorating….

Cameron actually did a decent job of squeezing the frosting out! It is not easy to push on that thing to get frosting to come out!

tea party

Once the kids got bored with cookies (pretty much after only decorating one apiece!!!), I set up a tea party for the American Girl dolls. Chloe was really sad that G. and Cameron were preoccupied with other things, but I went ahead and wasted a ton of bread making heart-shaped PB and J sandwiches while Dylan kindly wrote out invitations to the girls.

And, the girls accepted their invitations quite happily!

The rest of the week was equally busy. Cameron and I did the grocery shopping for various celebrations (Christmas Eve with the Taylors, pre-Christmas Eve with H.’s family), and Christmas brunch and dinner at Cindy’s….), we did ever more prep and we had celebrations!
