jumpcut to Dylan’s birth

I just heard about jumpcut recently — a web-based photo/video slideshow editor developed in Flash. It got good reviews, so I thought I’d give it a whirl….The 4-minute clip chronicles pre-D as well as big D (delivery) day — not the Due Date as labor was induced approximately 2 weeks early because of a “torn amniotic sac” suspicion (to this day, I don’t know if that assessment was accurate!) — and Dylan’s first few days at home (following his first week at Sutter and the NICU at Dominican)….

We are very much looking forward to celebrating his first bday with friends and family this weekend!

Mother’s Day weekend

We had such a wonderful Mother’s Day celebration this year…and the celebratin’ spanned two days! Last night, Christina, Tom, and Jeff sent us off for massages and dinner at Santana Row. Mom was made Christina’s honorary “kid”, so she joined us in the festivities! So, after Justin’s bday party, Tom drove me to mom’s house — where us gals proceeded to head for the spa — and he and Dylan headed for Jeff’s house for some daddy-kiddie play/bonding time. How sweet was that??

Today, we spent the day at mom’s house and watched the kiddies play. Jason and Tyler are so very sweet with Dylan. They clearly adore one another!

Aren’t they cute???

Dylan also had his first taste of lychee (while we were out at lunch) and taho (a Filipino sweet treat consisting of soft tofu and a sweet brown sugar syrup). He eagerly gobbled it all up (gastronomically set for a trip to the Philippines…some day, some day!)!

Now that we’re back home, Dylan is down for the count (more picture are on flickr, including this incredibly cute one of Rob and Jason)!

I shouldn’t forget — Dylan’s MD gifts to me were flowers and 11 steps taken all on his own!!

Tuesday lunch

Another day, another dollar (literally)! Tom and Dylan met me for lunch at Zachary’s. We’ve started giving Dylan more food from our plates — just simple stuff like gallo pinto and, at Zach’s, some of my oatmeal.

He really loves sharing…!

Today, in fact (which is actually Wednesday), he tried sharing some of his Oatios with Taliana. What a sweet boy.

mini pool party

Dylan likes his new pool

It is 85F today, so we figured today was a fine day to bust out the kiddie pool. Dylan and Taliana had fun splashing around, despite the cold water!!!

Dylan’s latest smile

at HAT’s new home
Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

Dylan has Tooth #5 and #6 coming in, but in this picture, you can only see teeth 1 through 4 (2 bottom teeth and his 2 uppers).

This past weekend, we visited my cousins in Fremont, stopped at Cindy’s for a little play break (oh, can’t forget falafels for lunch), helped HAT move into their new place and, finally, we planted some dino kale, Kandy corn, and stupice and cherokee purple heirloom tomatoes (have yet to put snap peas and four other varieties of heirloom tomatoes into the ground…).

Dylan enjoyed everything but the Saturday car rides to and from Fremont. He howled 95% of the time! The poor little guy kept signing for “milk” and I could not oblige…!

Smiles are definitely far, far, far more preferable…!

smoothie move!

Dylan’s first jamba juice!

Took a break from work to go get some smoothies, and Dylan was expressing great interest in having some of mine (he loves drinking from a straw!). He isn’t eating strawberries yet, but the nice people at Jamba Juice made a custom-order fruit smoothie for him with just mango, peach and banana! Dylan loved it!

a frenzied and feverish weekend

at Music Together

Alright, where’d we leave off??? It’s been a busy, busy weekend, culminating in poor baby Dylan getting a fever. Every cloud has it’s lining, they say, and I guess, for Dylan, it’s that he can’t go to daycare tomorrow.

In any case, the weekend started with a little Music Together. Once again, Dylan was ready for a nap before we stepped out the door, but he just loved the class!

On Saturday, we celebrated Christina’s 25th bday.

We busted out Dylan’s swim trunks and sunscreen and set him loose in the yard.

As usual, he had fun playing with his cousins and he met a new friend, James (Christina’s friend’s little brother)….

mom’s bday lunch at Sino’s

Finally, on Sunday, we took mom out for a bday lunch at Sino.

Dylan’s good mood finally wore thin…His lack of naps caught up with him and he was feverish at the end of the day, but Cindy and Christina and mom and I still had an enjoyable lunch, and Dylan, as per usual, didn’t want to miss a second, so he stayed awake until we said goodbye (at which point, he promptly sacked out)!

Poor little thing is now sleeping and, hopefully, is on the mend as I type….

Kids Day

in Lumiere
Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

Today was Take Your Kids to Work Day so I got to take Dylan to the office with me and he got a cute little badge!

We spent most of our time in Lumiere — home of today’s Crafts Lab, where we volunteered for an hour or so and where Dylan highlighted the fine construction of trading card tins, pondered my choice in books, and enjoyed a cup of non-coffee as well as Prateek’s company.

All good things had to come to an end, though…after a brief nap in the Ergo (while I finished some work tasks!), I had to take him to daycare.

He’s definitely not loving daycare, even though the folks there are so wonderful. They hold him a lot and have one gal on what seems like full-time Dylan-bonding duty! It could be teething — 2 more uppers are coming in — or a touch of separation anxiety making the adjustment so challenging for us….Still hoping he’ll be back to good ASAP.

While I was in the office, they went to the park, fed the ducks and played a whole lot!

Knowing that Dylan is having fun with family makes going to work so much more bearable.

running, running, running…

We got up at the crack of dawn to run this year’s Santa Cruz Half Marathon!

Not only did Dylan wake up only once (at 4-ish am), it didn’t rain (phew!) and we both exceeded our race goals.

I finished 56/309+ in my age group and 146/911+ overall while Tom finished 99/154 in his age group and 346/911+ overall.

We both finished in under 2 hours.

Given that neither of us could train daily (or even 3x weekly with much regularity), we’re happy with our results…!

So, where was the wee one while we were panting away? Poor thing was awakened at 5:30am so we could take him over to HAT’s house for the AM!

We reunited with him post-race and took the clan (including David and good buddy Steve) out for brunch at Dharma’s….
