father’s day 2011

We ended the weekend with a Father’s Day celebration at Auntie Cindy’s house where it was a searing 92F!! Santa Cruz was pleasant and balmy, so we were kind of surprised by the heat when we stepped outside of our car!!

Since Cameron was napless yesterday and sacked out at 6-ish pm, she was up at the crack of dawn. The plan was to let Dylan and Tom sleep in a little, but Dylan got another bloody nose (he got one the night before as well)!

To let Tom sleep in, the kids and I went downstairs and made some drop biscuits for breakfast. After Tom woke up, we all went to the store to pick up ingredients for the asparagus pesto pasta salad and BBQ items we needed. Tom got coffee and I struggled through the first part of the shopping trip with a complaining Cameron (at least Dylan is pretty mellow!)!

After prepping food, we headed for Morgan Hill. And, wouldn’t you know? Even though we were up with the farmers and early birds, we arrived at Cindy’s house 20 minutes late!!!

ready to swim

We packed Dylan’s bicycle and Cameron’s trike, but we didn’t pack their swimsuits! Luckily, Cameron refused to take off her favorite fleece (yes, she does indeed have other clothes! She just opts to keep her fleece on…unless it’s “too grubby” or gets wet) and Dylan was able to borrow one of Tyler’s old swimsuits. Don’t these fellas look handsome??

thank goodness for Auntie!

Tom and I didn’t even think to pack our own swimsuits so I was strategizing ways to use the pool broom to keep Dylan afloat from the poolside, but Auntie Christina came to the rescue! She aborted her relaxing sunbathing and jumped into the water to help Dylan out. Thank goodness for younger sisters!

fourth (?) time on the bike?

After a time, we headed for the neighborhood park. Jason, being the awesome older cousin that he is, rode his bike instead of taking his scooter just so he could ride with Dylan!

If Dylan gets distracted, he still crashes(!), but Jason was so sweet and so supportive telling Dylan how he coudn’t believe he didn’t have training wheels and Tyler only took off training wheels when he was 7. He also complimented Dylan on how well he navigated some pretty tight turns. He’s such a great guy. And, of course, Cameron still totally adores him. He cracks her up!

Kids sacked out on the way home and boy am I tired! I don’t even know where Tom is right now, but by the lack of sounds in the house, my guess is he’s sleeping….
