The last couple of weeks have been fun as well. Other preschool buddies were also adjusting to their new schools and they were sorely missing one another. So much so, we set up a dinner and play date with Nate and Finley’s families for the kids to just unloose and for us parents to decompress–pizza and wine for us and pizza and lemonade for them! The boys had such a fantastic time, running around, clearly soooo happy to see and play with one another. They got back into their play-grooves pretty much immediately.
Back at the preschool, they were being missed by younger buddies still there–Tanner kept asking why Dylan wasn’t back and then asked us what his favorite color is and proceeded to draw a picture for him (he also drew pictures for Nate and Finley). I made a point of picking Dylan up from CKC early the next day so that he could see Tanner when we picked up Cameron. They boys were thrilled. They hugged then immediately started running around the playground while I gathered up Cameron and her things.
We also went to the Watsonville air show for the first time ever…with Julie and Kaden and Julie’s buddy Marielle.
These kids are so high-tech, they were actually watching planes on Jenny’s phone (the stunt planes came out a little later, but they wanted to see rolling planes NOW!)
I finally started my work-from-home Wednesdays, so Cameron and I saw Kaden at gymnastics last week and started Music Together this week! She loved both!! Too bad, we can only do one in the middle of the week!!!
We also made tons of cookies, some for Dylan’s special lunch treat, and lots more for Dylan’s back-to-school night….
For Back-to-School night, we got a pair of babysitters to watch our kids and Taliana and Perfect–a nice trial run for future joint babysitting sessions–while us parents visited the classrooms and met the principal.
Met some other nice parents and teacher Juan had us do a craft for the kids so that there would be a nice surprise for them at their desks the next morning…!
We also washed my car…at Dylan’s suggestion.
And, finally, there was apple picking with the preschool and the county fair afterwards.
Jada and Cameron often play together at school and she was there for apple-picking, too….
We saw Tanner just before we were heading out to leave, so we stayed a bit longer so the kids could hang out.
While Dylan and Tanner were in the sandbox, Cameron made faces at me…
…and totally rocked out on this turtle thing!
Teacher Cathy got the scoop on school from Dylan.
Cameron came running to join everyone on the tractor…
She liked it!
After apple-picking, we met Assaf and the girls at the fair. First stop: model railroad (of course).
Cameron missed her nap entirely. I was beginning to think we were going to be stuck at the model railroad all day (as we were last year!) and Cameron would be miserable, but all of the kids decided they wanted to ride the ponies.
While we were standing in line, Cameron got totally scared when a horse sneezed! But she bravely got on her pony when it was time to load up.
Taliana got the tallest one!!
This year, we watched the sea lion show…it was awesome!
And, we rode a few rides (ridiculously costly!)…Of course, we had to ride the train.
We forgot to bring jackets for the kids, so after the train ride, we pretty much had to pack it up! So, here they are at the end of the day. Can you believe we didn’t see any animals at the fair this year??!?
