This past weekend was great fun. We went to a local harvest festival and saw some old buddies, Nate, Finley and Cleo! While we were there, the kids also got their faces painted, pet some goats, pedaled on a bike to grind blue corn into flour, sampled over 30 varieties of Asian and European pears, made a wish and put it on the community tree, got some lettuce starters and planted sunflower seeds, and just generally had a great time!
The boys were so happy to see one another! Too bad we were late and Nate and his family had to leave so soon after we arrived! But, their friend apparently finished absolutely first in last weekend’s Nike Marathon (she even beat out the first place male finisher) and they were going to celebrate her tremendous victory.
Still, we got to hang out with Finley for a few hours….
Oh, and here are the wishes the three fellas placed on the community tree.
Dylan’s wish…
After tasting pears, Dylan got his face painted while Finley played a fishing game nearby and Cameron planted seeds (kinda)…
Dylan was pretty happy with the end result!
And, isn’t that spider awesome??
Cameron wanted a kitty cat…and she was remarkably patient and still while the face painting lady worked her magic.
She loved it! She meowed whenever someone mentioned she was a cat!
We left the festival after a couple of hours because Cameron was super tired. She sacked out in the car on the way home and was able to catch a cat-nap before we headed out for dinner and then to The Most Awesome Halloween Party Ever.
I forgot to bring my camera (boo on me), but Dylan and Cameorn both had a blast. The party was hosted by my old carpool buddy, Tammy. She did an absolutely amazing job of setting up games (including a dart throw and a break-a-plate game!!) and a haunted house with moving books, drawers, and skeletons! She projected kid-friendly Halloween cartoons on a big screen in her backyard and even made some vegan mummy dogs!
To say Dylan loved it would be an understatement. He went through the Haunted House 4 times and he’s been raving about Tammy and her “fesbital” all day!
