We were really impressed when we asked Dylan just last night if he wanted to run the Turkey Trot here in town on the very next day. We told him neither of us parents would be running; it would just be him and he said he wanted to do it…as well as the Turkey Trot in San Jose on Thanksgiving Day!
So, early this morning, we woke up at about 6:45am and asked him if he still wanted to go and the answer was yes! This, despite the fact that it was cold and wet outside and still drizzling.
So, while Tom watched the girls (Cameron desperately wanted to go, but she woke up just as we were leaving), Dylan and I headed out.
At a full 1K, this is a relatively long run and Dylan ran the entire thing! And, he was such a trooper with the rain. I’d forgotten his rain jacket so he was just out there in his hoodie, but he totally didn’t mind. Nor did he mind all of that rain going into his face! I love this little guy and his enthusiasm for running and for tradition. I hope all of these annual events we do will be fond memories for him when he’s all grown up.
