Our little chub-a-lub is growing nicely! I have no idea how much weight she’s gained since her last doctor’s appointment, but by the feel of my limbs at day’s end, I know she’s continuing to pack on the ounces!
Today was the first day she fell asleep in her swing. She was like a dead weight in my arms this morning, probably catching up on sleep. During the week, when Dylan is with us, she’s mostly just tagging along on all of his activity stuff. A lot of times, just as she’s fallen asleep, we’ve arrived at our destination and/or we’re just about to up and go to the next one! Overall, she’s a trooper — she often tries to just fall back asleep, but all of that interrupted sleep takes its toll (Tom and I should know!)! If it weren’t for lack of sleep, she probably would have just stayed awake!
And, check out her hair–it’s just deciding to grow straight up, like her Aunt Christina’s.
Now this one…he needs a hair cut. Here we are at the library for pre-school story time. Dylan is really, really enjoying it. Linda, who led the toddler story time, is really wonderful (and she is now leading the baby story time that Cameron and I are now attending), but Dylan had less attention span for sitting still. Sometimes he’d be fine for the entire session; other times, he’d just want to play outside on the playground. But now, he sits through the entire 40-50 minute program and he eagerly awaits the art project they usually have set up for the kids afterwards.
The librarian who leads it is really wonderful. She opens with a few songs and then has a theme for the day (first it was outer space, then apples and farms…this week it was alligators and crocodiles). All of the stories and the project afterwards are all related to her theme….
Dylan just loved There’s An Alligator Under My Bed and, really, it is a cute, cute story! We ended up bringing it home and reading it over and over and over and over again and the sweet little guy gave his alligator to his daddy!
After story time, we did our “usual” thing of eating a brown-bag lunch somewhere in or around downtown while we wait for the Farmer’s Market to open. It’s tough! There’s 2.5 hours between the end of story time and the beginning of the Farmer’s Market! So, to kill time this week, we went to the park. We made it to 2:30pm but, by this time, Dylan just wanted to go home. I figured attempting a nap might be a good idea and I also figured we had enough fruits and veggies to last us (and my shoulder was beginning to get sore from carrying Cameron in the Peanut Shell), so I took us all home.
Wouldn’t you know that Dylan didn’t nap! I, on the other hand, fell asleep to him chanting, “wake up, mommy! Wake up, mommy!” Shortly after I heard him saying, “are you ready to wake up?” I really did get up and we ended the afternoon by making cupcakes for tomorrow’s birthday circle (big, big thanks to the director at his preschool who called to give us a heads-up)….
