Dylan’s been drooling a lot and cramming his little fist into his mouth at every opportunity…I was interpreting these as signs of hunger, but then, when I try to nurse him, he doesn’t seem terribly interested! Now, I’m beginning to wonder if he’s teething….

I have yet to see any obvious signs, but if he is, he’s been remarkably good about it. I’m sure that will change once teeth really start to poke out (poor guy!).

Thank goodness Dylan is tolerating his little vibrating chair more now!! It gives my arms a little break!!

Right now, he’s just chilling out in it yanking on the little Octopus perched on the side.

Anyway, Dylan will be a whopping 15 weeks old in just 11 hours!! He’s out of most of his 0-3 mos. clothes and into the next size up! Among other things, this means he gets to wear the onesie that says “If you think I’m cute, you should see my Dad!”

One of the mommies at the mom’s group this morning commented on how much she liked it!

Thanks for the threads, Gramma Sharon!!

a visit from Auntie Cindy and Jason and Tyler

Dylan hardly EVER falls asleep on someone’s shoulder like this — in fact, I can count the number of times he’s done so on one hand! Auntie Cindy is definitely skilled at calming little Dylan! It’s amazing. During today’s visit, she also coaxed some serious laughter from him!!

Jason and Tyler are still totally enamored of their cousin. Once again, Jason requested to get a picture of himself holding Dylan….

last night’s fashion faux pas

By chance, Taliana and Dylan have the exact same PJs! So, when Heather, Assaf and Taliana came over for dinner last night, we put the kids together to take a picture! Obviously, Dylan wasn’t all that thrilled about having the same evening wear as someone else (oh! the horrors…at least it’s not prom night), but Taliana, sweet as she is, didn’t seem to mind one iota.

will the "real" Dylan please stand up

08/26/06 – Dylan stands up

He can’t really stand up, but he can propel himself into a standing position using just his little legs! This picture makes it look like his legs are still little twigs, but don’t be fooled…those thighs are c-h-u-n-k-y!…

King Lear

Well, yesterday, Tom and I made the bold attempt to go to Shakespeare Santa Cruz last night. It was kind of a last minute decision in the end; we’d discussed going, but hadn’t made any firm commitments, but since there’s only about a week left of the season, we decided to go for it! The only downside to the whole thing was that we had to buy a separate ticket for Dylan (they cited some fire marshal code as justification).

We got ideal aisle seats in the third row, close to the exit (which you can see behind Dylan and me) and Dylan was amazingly good…We saw no need to leave early!

When we first arrived, he took the opportunity to take in all of the sights and sounds — the redwoods, the leaves, all the people, etc. Then, shortly after the performance began — around 7:30pm — he had his second dinner-ish and promptly conked out…and stayed conked out until the show actually ended!!

Well, needless to say, Tom and I were pleased as punch.

This coming weekend, we’re going to attempt a matinee showing of As you Like It.

Who knows how Dylan will behave — the afternoon is still a little up-in-the-air with respect to scheduling — but we’ll give it a shot anyway….

08/18/06 – playing with daddy

We’ve been lucky that Tom doesn’t have to drive over the hill every single day! But on the days that he does, he’s really good about spending a little time with the Boy first. Here, Tom was having Dylan slide down his legs and then “jump” back up to his knees….

You can see that the Boy’s legs are definitely plumping up! And, he is definitely growing stronger.

A few days after Dylan rolled over, I started experimenting with propping him into a sitting position and then also pulling him up by his arms from a lying down position to a sitting position…he held his head up with no problems. He’s also showing promising signs of being able to roll over from back to tummy — when he’s on his back, he can really swivel his little hips around from side to side!

These days, Dylan is staying awake a lot, a lot longer, too — we seem to get up around 7-8am and he doesn’t nap until after 12pm — and, just like his dad, he is very, very talkative!
