At the Boardwalk while brother parties on at the bowling alley. by coffywoman

Traffic was hideous near the boardwalk (sometimes I forget lots of people like to come here on weekends! We get so spoiled being able to come during the uncrowded times!) and Chloe fell asleep on the way, so after we dropped Dylan off at his buddy Maya’s bday party (at Boardwalk Bowl), Cameron and I went to get our season pass issues resolved (I temporarily lost our’s and we had to get replacements) and then, since Tom went home with the sleeping baby, we rode some rides.

It was so much fun spending time with just her! After Cameron was born, Dylan and I had at least one Mommy-Dylan day, but I’m not sure Cameron and I ever had just us time since Chloe was born!

Among other favorites (Sea Dragon, the cars, boat, carousel), we rode the Sea Serpent roller coaster–a first for both of us!

This reminds me that I should do this more often with her…and with all of the kids, for that matter!!

Lovin' the art...! by coffywoman
Lovin’ the art…!

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned that Cameron has begun to sound out and write words on her own.

As you can see here, she spelled Mama with O’s instead of A’s but, you know, that’s just how she and Dylan pronounce it (it sounds like “moh moh”)!!

One afternoon a few weeks ago, she drew a picture for Tom as well with “DAD” clearly written across the top…and, of course, she is writing her name quite well now (today at Studio Sprout, I was about to write her name on the back of her art project when she told me, “no mama. I want to do it.” and boom she did (good thing, too, because Chloe was pulling me away!).

So, yes, this girl’s phonics are improving by the week. At story time just yesterday, I pulled a book off the shelf and asked her what the title was and she instantly recognized it as “Chloe.” She’s not reading quite yet, but her ability to recognize patterns is definitely improving!

Also, I love her art. It’s so sweet!

Dylan was on Day 3 of Bad Fever when his Open House at school happened. Tom and I had to take turns touring the classroom.

I saw this when it was my turn. Such a cute picture! They also had their paper globes hanging from the ceiling, profile silhouettes, their “twin”, their rye, alfalfa and sunflowers and lots of journals and other work on display!

It was quite an effort, I’d say! I’ve been volunteering on Mondays and I’ve worked with the kids on many of these projects, but I was still so impressed at how much work went into setting up the classroom for Open House.

Poor Dylan was too sick to even go!! He stayed home from school from Tuesday to Friday! On medicine he was fine–we even built a solar oven on Thursday afternoon–but, without it, he was definitely exhausted and chilled. Luckily, by Saturday, he was back to his old self (and so was Cameron who was also sick at the same time)!

In the backyard

By the way, this little girl is just getting more and more charming by the day (if we may say so ourselves!). She is copying everything she can: Cameron nods her head, she nods her head; Cameron sings her “ringtone,” “din daaa da din. Da din…”, she says her version of “dinn”; You say, “hum hum hum hum”, she says “hum”; and the best part, if you laugh, she laughs (although, I guess she’s been doing this for quite some time now)!

Also, she loves being in the backyard. She can climb up the ladder to the little plastic slide all by herself. In fact, she climbs lots of things. I find her on chairs, tables, step ladders…..At least she knows to call me when she needs to get down! She is growing up fast.

Cameron loves hand-me-downs!! She just loves being able to fit into big-kid clothes!! So, even though this dress is still a little big on her, she loves that it Taliana used to wear it and she wants to wear it lots!!

Right now, she’s very obsessed with clothing tags. Whenever she puts something on, we have to read the size first. She’s very proud when it’s 4T or 5T (she definitely does not fit in 3T’s any more!).

It’s hard to believe I haven’t posted Easter pics yet! Huge backlog here. I think I need to eschew sleep more often!

We had Easter at Christina’s house–her house is now the new Party Palace since she and Dre don’t have kids and their house is always clean, tidy and party-ready…! Plus, they have the great park right behind their house for hiding easter eggs.

our kids on the hunt!
Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

Jason and Tyler have officially phased out of egg-hunting. So sad!!! All of Cindy’s boys (Rob, Chris, Jason, Tyler) hid eggs for our kids. But, this year, Dylan didn’t let it get him down (last year, he was a little bummed out that Tyler wasn’t so into it). He was ready to go out there and find them!

“more what? more ‘eggs’??”
Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

After the egg hunt, the family was super awesome and watched the kids while Tom and I did an 8-mile run! From what we heard, Lola got a running workout. She chased the kids around for quite some time! <3

After Tom and I got back, we ate like pigs again (oh, I mean we carbo-re-loaded!)! We ended up leaving quite late, so the kids sacked out on the way home. Another fun family gathering behind us!

Over Dylan’s spring break, we had a play date with Griff and his new baby sister Larkin. We were lucky to have such gorgeous weather…and a great place to hang out and enjoy it! Chloe loves being in the sand (and sometimes eating it…!)
