Photo evidence that the kids are driving Tom crazy. Look at that face!
Aside from plays, last weekend, we also celebrated Uncle Assaf’s birthday and got to see Uncle David (who was in town for a funeral).
Here’s David with Chloe. He was quite pleased that she didn’t shriek while he held her!
David, HAT and David and Heather’s parents came over for dinner on Saturday, then on Sunday, we headed to HAT’s house for Assaf’s birthday. Among other things, folks played the classic games of Ladder Golf and Corn Hole. Yes. Who knew there’s an actual game called corn hole??? That’s what you get when you have friends who are very games-oriented–knowledge of obscure traditional games!
Chloe enjoyed hanging out and observing everyone and trying to participate in the conversation, but by the time cake time rolled around, she’d about had it. While we were in the corner doing the nursing thang, everyone else sang happy bday! Luckily, though, we were brought cake…two slices! Yum!
One morning last week, Dylan woke up and wanted to do a play based on the Elephant and Piggie stories we’ve been reading. We didn’t have costumes, so Dylan dug out some construction paper and some string and he made a pig nose, pig ears, and a pig tail!! Then he went on to make me an elephant trunk!
At some point, he also decided that Chloe needed bunny ears and he enlisted Tom to help hime make some!
Here are some pictures from the morning…
Incidentally, we performed Should I Share My Ice Cream? and Pigs Make Me Sneeze!
This past weekend, we went to Ellie’s bday celebration at Pump It Up. Cameron sacked out on the way there, but she woke up in time to enjoy some fun. Unfortunately, she was still feverish from the teething and still very sensitive to absolutely anything that didn’t go just her way.
Still, we went through the obstacle course and she went down some of the big slides.
Since Tom took a turn with Chloe, I got to wiggle through with the kids.
There was also a really cool climbing wall that Dylan tried. Here are a few pictures from the day.
The first Friday of the month is free at our local Natural History Museum, so we went!
It’s a small musuem, but good enough for an hour’s worth of fun. We saw a busy beehive, a lot of stuffed animals (Cameron especially liked looking at the coyotes), and some fossils, including sharks teeth. Cameron liked digging for the mastadon bones.
There was also a touch pool with sea stars, sea anemones, sea snails, hermit crabs, sea lettuce. Cameron was more into it than Dylan! She touched a sea anemone to make it close up whereas Dylan didn’t even want to try!
It was a nice mellow activity that wasn’t too long and we really needed something like that on the heels of so many long days (including July 4th)! Cameron’s molar was breaking through, too, and she just hasn’t been up for very much.
Summer camp for Dylan hadn’t started yet and story times are on hiatus, too, so we spent the day at the Boardwalk.
Dylan was really good about sticking to the rides that only Cameron could go on! But Cameron also gamely braved the Haunted House. Dylan wanted to go back to the Boardwalk the next day so we could ride the Haunted House again, but Cameron said it was “too haunted.” Luckily, we didn’t have time to go back, so conflict avoided!!
I was a little reluctant to make the drive to Morgan Hill for the 4th this year, partly because well, we’re tierd! But, Dylan really wanted to see his cousins. I’m so glad we went. We had such a good time with family. So much fun, in fact, as you can see, poor Cameron didn’t make it to the fireworks! She slept through the entire loud show (which, happily, lasted more than 15 seconds).
Before sacking out, she was as happy as a clam. And Jason is still her favorite. I love it.
Lola never goes to see the fireworks, so she had to squeeze in all of her our-kid time beforehand and the kids were happy to oblige!
Chloe got her fair share of attention, too. While the kids went swimming, she sat pool-side with the aunties and Lola.
Cameron has been making nice progress in swimming. Now she’s wearing goggles and happily sailing out in a floatie! She even tried blowing bubbles (and at last Sunday’s swim lesson, she went all the way underwater with Jonathon to get a sea star from the bottom of the pool! Now that’s progress!)!!
Here’s another shot of Chloe sitting on the sidelines with Lola.
Oh, so Lola made these adorable hats for the girls! She was worried Cameron wouldn’t wear it if we told her that she made them, so we told Cameron I bought them!! It looks so cute on her! And, I don’t know when my mom found the time to learn mad craft skillz like this. She’s puttin’ me to shame!
Here’s Chloe in her hat.
I know these pics are all random, but that’s what you get when I’m always scrambling to find a minute to post!!!…Dylan obviously went swimming, too! He’s getting better and better and having more fun in the pool as well…!
We started July 4th at Wilder Ranch for their 1912 Independence Day festivities. We got to see old carriages, the farm houses, blacksmith shop and workshop. We also exchanged 2012 dollars for 1912 money and bought watermelon and a pickle for 5 cents (or $1 in 2012 bucks)!
The kids were really interested in the wash basin. I hope they’ll always have an interest in doing laundry (wishful thinking, I know).
Dylan and Taliana also learned how to spin wool into yarn.
This was our first time going to this annual event…I guess it was fun. It was super windy and cold, but the kids had fun anyway!
Cameron is just at 36″, tall enough to ride some of the “big kid” rides at Happy Hollow! Dylan only had to ride Frog Hopper once before deciding it made his tummy feel queasy. Cameron, on the other hand, rode it twice!
I did manage to get a picture of Dylan on the Frog Hopper, too, though….
I like this one because it gets the kids moving. Their plasma car “training” helped out a lot!
Cameron is just big enough for the roller coaster!
All in all, just another awesome summer day.
Heather and I took the kids to Happy Hollow last Monday. I practiced shooting in manual mode! I caught this picture of Cameron jumping….There’s a picture of an orangutan in the background that Cameron can tell you is one of the great apes!
