Dylan’s school held a carnival fundraiser last Friday where, among other things, Dylan got his face painted!

a “just my luck” wednesday

Last Wednesday, we went to Toys ‘r’ Us to buy a gift for one of Dylan’s former preschool teachers who was about to start her maternity leave (as I write this today, she’s having her baby!!). Of course, this was the primo time for a poop.

My radar for events only extends out one day at a time these days, so here we were, borrowing a pen from the cashier to write our good wishes on Lauren’s card when what smell should waft through the air?

Me to Dylan: “Dylan did you just toot?”
Dylan: “Nooo”
(uh oh…turning to my other side to Cameron): “Cameron did you poop?”

As I’m saying this out loud, my mind is going 10000 mps: went pee before we left the house, should be fine in cotton panties. Big miscalculation.

Cameron, nodding (of course): “and pee!”

Oh, great.

Me to Cameron: “ok. Can you make it to the car?” and I must have said a fair number of “oh no’s” because Cameron then asked, “are you sad, mommy?” Meanwhile, Dylan is saying, “Ew. I can see it!” and I’m telling him to shush while trying to hustle Cameron, who is walking verrrrry slowly with legs barely uncrossed, to the car.

So, after massive clean-up in the parking lot which resulted in the complete disposal of a pair of cotton underwear and a pair of pants, we load up into the car and head to the party.

No incidents at the school, but once we’re home, it’s Chloe and Dylan’s turn. I think Chloe is done pooping, so I take her to change her diaper, but once her diaper is off, I lift her legs and it’s like pumping pasta from a play-doh machine. And meanwhile, Dylan goes poop, not once this afternoon, but twice!

Tom so owes me!

Cameron loves Chloe…! (And, admittedly, sometimes tooooo much! We have to make sure she doesn’t hug too tightly or kiss too smotheringly!!)

Here’s our jolly little gal. She is now totally out of diapers (and has been for at least a couple of weeks now). She’s so cute when she’s happy!

Cinco de Mayo was h.o.t. so we pulled out the pool and ate our Mexican-themed meal (tofu scramble with adobo spicing, olives and chard served wtih corn tortillas, cashew cheese and salsa, and red potato and chorizo hash) outdoors.

While the kids splashed around and harvested strawberries, etc., us grownups and Chloe sat down for a couple of rounds of Dominion.

We are really beginning to enjoy the “new” backyard and are so excited to do some gardening this year. I’m hoping the kids will be able to harvest plenty of strawberries, snap peas, and cherry tomatoes. We’ll see if we can overcome our black thumbs!!

Chloe is doing a lot more time on her mat and on her tummy. It’s hard to believe that she’s already rolling on to her side! And, this morning, she may have even rolled back onto her back although I’m not sure if I’d given her a nudge to get her to roll!

Before I dug out our old playmat, we put Chloe on the trampoline and, using Belkin cable ties, we strapped up some toys to entertain her right on to the trampoline bar! Dylan helped.

She also tolerates her swing for up to 5 minutes now!! That’s a 5x increase over last week!!

She is clearly growing fast, fast, fast. Another mommy in our music class just had a baby and Chloe just looks huge next to her. It wasn’t that long ago at all that Chloe was all skin and bones like that, too!

Dylan still loves trains, so on a beautiful, plan-free Sunday, we took the kids to Roaring Camp. It was a beautiful day. Here are some pictures!

And, we close with this sweet picture of Dylan climbing back on board the caboose. The train whistle had just been tooted twice to let people know that it was time to re-board (we had stopped at the top of the mountain so people could stretch, go potty, take pictures of the train) and he was anxious the train would leave without us, so he doesn’t quite have the natural and winning smile we love so much! Still, this picture cracks me up. Maybe in the future, he will always be prompt!
