visiting with Uncle Michael
Uncle Michael’s visit to Santa Cruz was easily the highlight of our week! We spent some time in the searing heat at the Earth Day festivities downtown (it was 87F that day!), had a backyard bbq dinner and s’mores, visited the Mystery Spot, and enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Millennium in San Francisco.
This one is easily one of my favorite photos.
The visit was short (in our opinion), but it was so much fun! Looking forward to the next visit…and hope it isn’t too far into the future.

coffee with jennifer
Last Thursday, I had coffee with my former boss/dear friend/mentor, Jennifer. A long, long time ago (holy smokes, I think she was about my current age when we first met!), we ate lunches together on a grassy hill up at UCSC and talked about life, goals, dreams and everything in between. At that time, I was convinced I wouldn’t have kids and I shared that little piece of info with her. Last week, she shared my joy in our little #3!
Jennifer made a decision not to have kids herself, but she loved holding Chloe and Chloe was completely at ease in her arms!
It was wonderful to visit with her and to see that she is happy and healthy and joyfully retired!

another beautiful wednesday
I love my Wednesdays with the kids, although this past Wednesday was probably way too mellow–I had plans to take them to the beach or the park, but when they wanted to play at home first, we lost our momentum! Luckily, the kids still do like just being out in the back. We need a new basketball and tee ball, though. Our equipment is either busted or lost and they want to play, but can’t!! Soooo, hooray for bubbles!
And here’s the baby…Check out Chloe’s hair!
There’s no gel or anything in that hair! In fact, she’s fresh out of the bath!
Oh, yes…yesterday’s Fab Trio Wednesday highlight: having all three kids poop practically simultaneously. I know everyone poops, but…c’mon! First, Chloe had a blowout; then Cameron, still trying to get the hang of pooping in her potty, just plain missed and dropped two logs on the floor! And, finally, once I had her in the bath, Dylan took his turn on the pot…and I figured I may as well throw him in the bath, too.
Well, at least, by the end of the day, I had 3 clean kids!!

2 months old
It’s hard to believe that Chloe is already 2 months old! She is already smiling in response to voices and is already out of the XS diaper shells!
At her 2-month appointment, she weighed in at 10 lb. 6.5oz. (55% for age) and had already grown to 22.25″ (64%).
She also had a follow-up audiology appointment just this past Tuesday which, gratefully, she passed with flying colors! She hadn’t been startling to loud noises (clapping, slamming cabinets, tambourines, bells, etc.) and even her doc thought she was “resistant to sound,” but it turns out she is just used to A LOT of noise (thank you Dylan and Cameron!).

Easter
Both Dylan and Cameron were surprisingly cooperative in putting on some “festive” Easter clothes. Dylan agreed only because we told him he could take the long-sleeved shirt off after pictures. So they posed.
Then, Dylan immediately found an Easter basket.
Then, he found the other.
Being the nice big brother that he is, Dylan promptly gave Cameron her basket.
After some cursory glances at the goodies, they loaded themselves and their goods into the car and we headed to Auntie Christina’s house for brunch.
We brought along potatoes, tofu scramble and cupcakes decorated to look like easter baskets
And, there was the easter egg hunt. Sadly, for poor Dylan, his cousins are now getting to an age where they just don’t have any interest in it anymore. Jason is now 10 and since he isn’t interested, Tyler decided he isn’t…and since Tyler wanted to be big like Jason, he didn’t want to hunt either. So, poor Dylan, wanting to be big like his cousins, decided he didn’t want to look for eggs either. But you could tell he really wanted to….
Cameron, on the other hand, was wildly enthusiastic. She was running around picking eggs up left and right. When her basket got full, she turned to Lola and said, “Lola can you pour this?” (as in empty out her full basket into Lola’s empty one so she could make room for more eggs!)!
I kept telling Dylan Cameron needed help, we couldn’t just leave all those eggs out here in the park. Then, Christina also mentioned that she actually hid eggs for Tyler to find that weren’t vegan (Cadbury creme eggs), and that finally kicked our little guy into action.
Growing up can be so tough!
And, here is little Chloe!
More pictures of both the seder and Easter are on flickr.
chloe’s first seder
We managed to squeeze in a seder! Yes, we celebrated it early…and no, we didn’t get through the entire Ina Gada Haggadah! But, we still had fun. And, this is one of the only pictures I got of Chloe since, as usual, she was in the good ol’ Ergo!
This year, we made a few new recipes and made great use of our farm share veggies: we had beet casserole, a traditional charoset, matzoh ball soup, salad with strawberries and cherry tomatoes, cous cous, fresh strawberries, an impromptu parsnip and potato stew (Moroccan-style) and matzoh toffee.
We had an interesting seder plate with roasted beets standing in for the lamb shank and a flower standing in for the egg.
None of the kids could sit through the entire haggadah, so we read the first couple of paragraphs, lit the candle, drank the first cup of wine and then had the kids find the afikomen (Taliana found it!!). Then we sat down to eat.
Then I remembered I wanted a group photo. We had to stand in front of the table to hide the big old dinner mess! The kids look adorable.
And, for good measure, here are a few other photos from the evening. The kids didn’t go to sleep until 11pm, so I hope they aren’t too exhausted for tomorrow’s Easter festivities with my family…!

spring break – day 5
Friday was Cirque du Soleil day, so we spent a very leisurely Friday playing at home. We thought about going biking, but Dylan was so happy Tom was home for the day, that he just wanted to play upstairs with him!
Then, shortly after T. and K. got out of their spring break camp (about 2:30), we drove to HAT’s house and caravaned to the show in San Jose!
When these gals on the unicycles came out, Dylan leaned over and exclaimed, “Wow! That’s cool!”
In general, he really enjoyed the show!! It was sweet to listen to his commentary throughout. Cameron wasn’t nearly as vocal, but she seemed to be riveted as well. As for Chloe, she mostly just nursed and tried to sleep! It was kind of fortunate that she had a tough time sleeping during the show because at dinner afterwards, she just slept!!
Anyway, this particular Cirque show wasn’t nearly as exciting as Dralion or Varekai, but it was still amazing nonetheless. Glad we could go and that all the kids really seemed to enjoy it.

spring break – day 4
On Thursday, I promised Dylan we’d pick up our season passes for the Boardwalk, so while we were there, we rode a few rides! This is the first time that Cameron has been on the rides without me or Tom (last year, she just went on the freebie chaperoned rides with us)! She had a blast!!
While she hung on to both the rail and Dylan, Dylan tried to look like he was completely unaffected by the ride. He tried to make it obvious that he didn’t even need to hold on to the rail!
After our short stint at the boardwalk, we met up with Finley and Cleo back at the house. Our initial plan was to go to the beach, but it turned out to be a pretty windy day, so we stayed close to home instead. We went down to the school and rode bikes for a while and then came back to the house for some warmer indoor play! I had my hands pretty full so I couldn’t take pictures, but, you know, these kids are always cute!!
