Ballet leaps and skips during last Saturday’s ballet class! She loves her class enough to get up early and be ready for an early-ish weekend morning (9:15am!) class!

Well, it happened: our littlest turned 4. Her bday was on a Saturday and her party was on Sunday and her school bday circle was on Monday, so it was a weekend of much celebrating!
On her actual bday, we didn’t have much planned, aside from bday party prep. But, we wanted to mark the day as special, so we made a batch of some vanilla agave cupcakes and tried to decorate ’em up with a Minnie-Mouse theme!
As is usually the case these days, Dylan was on the computer playing Minecraft, but the girls peeled themselves away from their other activities to help out with the baking and decorating! In the end, bday gal gave the cupcakes a big thumbs-up!
Cameron gave them a thumbs-up, too!
And, Dylan actually smiled for me (he is now in the habit of trying to hide from the camera)….
We think Chloe had a pretty good day, but she was tired. I wish I knew what the little thing was thinking here!
We also had a nice celebratory lunch at Takara and, still, poor little thing was sooo tired! I actually can’t remember what we did the night before…she must have stayed up late, though!!!
The next day, we had her party at SCCMOD (her choice!). In keeping with the Minnie love, we had the cake folks do some Minnie Mouse design on one of her cakes.
The other cake was equally tasty(minnie was a chocolate almond cake and this one was a vanilla-orange one) and nice-looking!
In total, we had 24 kiddie guests celebrating with her, many of them from the preschool and including a couple of the teachers who came with their own 4-year olds!
And, finally, on Monday, she had her bday circle. She looked so timid!
Chloe loved her bday banner (drawn by Stacy, the owner’s daughter-in-law).
It is hard to believe that Chloe is so grown up now! She is truly a joy–she has such a great sense of humor and she has such an expressive personality. Reading stories together are so much fun. She pays attention to the facial expressions in the books and she provides her own commentary on what they’re thinking.
Like Cameron, she’s very independent: she likes trying to do things herself. And, I love watching her play. Right now, she is really into playing with her Mickey and Minnie Mouse stuffed animals. She tucks them into the doll bunk bed almost every night and it’s always entertaining to her her story arcs (many of which involve Castle of Illusion-inspired evil)!
As I’ve mentioned in some previous posts, Chloe is also starting to write her name (she often wants to practice at home) and draw little stick figures. She’s also gotten pretty good with number recognition (especially, 1, 3, 6, 7, 9…). We are looking forward to what our next year together will bring!
Chloe is starting to draw people! This is the first drawing I picked up from her school. She is also starting to write her name.
We went to my friend’s son’s 7th birthday celebration at Santa Cruz Gymnastics and Dylan totally surprised me with this no-hands flip he did! I later asked him how he knew how to do it and he just shrugged his shoulders and told me he “just tried it” and boom! I’m so glad he didn’t get injured. He kept doing it! After a while, I couldn’t watch (anxious about a possible injury!):
Meanwhile, Chloe and Cameron were jumping from great heights into the foam pit:
Cameron also was practicing her balancing and her one-handed cartwheels.
They all had a blast…and, now, Cameron thinks she might want to enroll in gymnastics again!
Please, Mr. Panda is one of Chloe’s favorites. She loves picking a donut “to eat” and thinks it’s so funny when Mr. Panda says he has changed his mind! I got a few of these videos, but here is one of the most recent ones:
Chloe loves her new scooter (from Santa). This 3-wheeled sucker is such an improvement over the old one we had before (which barely moved!)
And, here she is in action!
Last Monday, Chloe had a field trip at the Seymour Marine Center! I went straight from volunteering in Cameron’s classroom to the preschool so was running a bit late. When we got to the Seymour Center, though, we discovered it was closed!!!
Well, instead of packing everyone back up and heading back to the school, though, the teachers made the best of the situation. We could still see the whale bones and the kids could still climb the sea lion sculptures, walk the path and look out at the ocean. It was still a great time … and, luckily, there was a break in the rain that day!
We attempted a group photo of the kids on this lovely bench overlooking the ocean….Chloe is waiting patiently for everyone to find a spot….
She was not into smiling, but she indulged me for a couple of shots….
She had fun while we were there despite the fact that she was pretty tired and grumpy about going in the first place! I later found out that she didn’t like wearing pants. She said she felt “like a boy.” Where does she get this stuff?!?
Here are a few other pictures, of the whales, the sea lion, etc…
We all had a difficult time getting ready for Monday, but this was a really great way to start the week! Did I mention we saw some dolphins, too?!?
Cameron go ther first tooth filled. She got watch Toy Story 2 while it happened and she had some nitrous oxide, too. Overall, she was a total champ, but she definitely didn’t like the numb feeling in her cheek and nostril!
The day after my date with Cameron, we had an impromptu kid swap with HAKT. Dylan went to their house and K. stayed with us for a sleepover. Cameron and her doll got matching PJs for Christmas (thanks, Auntie Christina!!) and now that they all have dolls, there’s often a doll tea party to be had. Well, Chloe does like her little Arielle doll (Air-e-yell, emphasis on the yell), but she likes Ariel, too (Air-e-ull). Snapped a cute little pic of the 3 of them cozying up on the couch in the morning.
It’s always fun, these sleepovers. The kids just preoccupy themselves so aside from feeding them, the day is pretty easy peasy!
