father’s day pictures

Here’s some of that special french toast Dylan and I prepped for Father’s Day….Dylan prepared this plate of french toast all by himself! He did a great job of making it look super yummy…

And, here’s that special daddy. He does so much work for all of us everyday–preps meals of all sorts, including kiddie lunches, tidies up at night and shuttles us around. We’re very lucky!

We tried to get a group shot of the daddies and kids, but it was tough! Here is just one sample. Also, more pictures are on flickr.

Finally, here are some pictures of Cameron at her 10-month mark (which passed two weeks ago already!)! It was a very hot Saturday, so we spent a lot of time out in the backyard trying to keep cool!

We filled up the water table and let the kids play…Cameron loved splashing around and, following her big brother’s lead, she made some “soup” out of herbs we trimmed.

These days, she is definitely not enamored of the car seat … and she is also quite vocal when objects of interest are taken away from her (by us or by Dylan) — we continue to encourage her to sign instead of scream! We’re also already beginning to see the kids vying for the same toy! It’s been a tough balancing act for us–we’re trying not to always come down on Dylan, but obviously, he’s currently the only one who fully gets what we’re saying….Ahh, parenthood!

Father’s Day

I’ll have to post the pics soon! They’re still trapped on my camera, but anyway, I hope Tom had a good day! It began with Cameron and I heading downstairs, while the boys were still sleeping, where we started on a new french toast recipe. Once Dylan was awake, he came to help out!

The french toast was delicious — topped with sweet farmer’s market strawberries, maple syrup and a little powdered sugar — even Dylan ate about 5 slices (small, francese slices) — 3 while I was still cooking ’em up!! Poor Tom had to make his own coffee though….Since he’s such a coffee geek, I don’t trust my coffee-making skills anymore and I didn’t want him to have a bad cup o’ joe on his special day!!

Once we were finally at the table, Dylan requested to sit by his daddy!

After breakfast, we packed it up and headed to Lola’s house for an afternoon of food and lounging. Dylan tried the pool (the water was freeeeeeezing, but he splashed around in it anyway!), Cameron desperately wanted to try dirt, Tom was able to get a good long nap in, and I enjoyed catching up with my sisters and mom.

Back Log: At this time way back in 2006, Dylan was a mere 16 days old and weighed about 8 lbs.! My how he’s grown.

strawberry picking Friday

Tom was the lucky fella who got to accompany Dylan to the pre-school strawberry pickin’ excursion. Dylan is looking as cute as ever!

The kids made strawberry jam from the berries and distributed them to the dads for Father’s Day. Since we have two kiddies in daycare there now, we got two jars!

Last week, Heather was wrapping up teaching and had a ton of grading to do, so we had an opportunity to reciprocate on child-care (she’s been taking care of Dylan on Fridays).

I had the day off, but had an all-hands meeting to attend at 4pm, so I took the kids to the Children’s Discovery Museum after lunch and hung out with them there until Tom came to “relieve” me around 3pm.

The big kids did a bunch of activities in the new Run! Jump! Fly! exercise exhibit. They did yoga, dancing, and leg exercises and Taliana did the climbing wall, bicycling, and the monkey bars!

Poor Cameron was just dying to get out of the Ergo, so once Tom arrived, I took her up to the crawl room upstairs where she could get down on the floor and explore–she loved it!

Tom managed all 3 kids while I took off for my meeting! But, once my meeting was done, I came back to the museum to load the kids up (I had all the car seats!) and we ended the day with dinner at the International Vegetarian House. Fun! And, as much as I’m liking the new job so far, I sure do miss excursion days like this with the kids…!

Monterey x3 !

Dylan enjoyed our time in Monterey so much, he wanted to take his daddy and show him all the cool things he saw and did, so last Sunday, we went back to Dennis the Menace Park, rode the trolley to the Aquarium again, and revisited the tanks and such!

One of Dylan’s prime directives was to get on top of that steam train’s tender! It’s pretty high up there and I couldn’t help him up the ladder or climb up after him with little Doodle strapped to me in the Ergo, so he was very eager to bring Tom back to get his help (and to show him the train)!

But, they didn’t stop at just hanging out on the tender; they went all the way to the front of the train, too, and Dylan got to monkey around near the bell, the sand dome(??) and the smokestack!

We packed PB&J sandwiches, watermelon, grapes, crackers, O’s, and aw nuts for lunch and enjoyed them under the shade of a tree while we waited for a baby swing to open up. Once it did, Dylan came over to give Cameron a little push.

After the playground, we headed to the Aquarium. We gaped at the big tanks, visited exhibits in the Outer Bay area that we hadn’t gotten to during our previous visits, and of course, we had to go back to Splash Zone where the kids, once again, had fun playing with water and jumping on the “waterbed” thingy.

Overall, a super fun day! So much fun to be had when we are all together!!

Cameron, outstanding in her field!

Little girl is 10 months old now and she just had a couple of momentous moments! While Tom and I were at work, she did her usual Thursday gig at Lola’s house and, while she was there, why she decided to stand up on her own for the longest time ever! She’d been starting to hold herself up on her own for a second or two, but this past Thursday, she kept on doing it and for long enough to allow Grandpa Mike to locate the camera, whip it out of carrying case, etc, turn it on, get situated, focus on her, and snap!!

Also, she’s started saying “uh oh” (and I mean, she says it allllll day long!), she clearly signs fan, her two top teeth are getting close to really breaking through the gums and she can now eat lentils and watermelon with us! Whew! And we thought we were busy…she just keeps growin’ and growin’ and growin’! Updated pictures are coming up soon. I haven’t had much opportunity to shoot photos, but Lola takes plenty on Mondays (she is now going to my mom’s twice a week) and Thursdays! I’ll try to post some.
