Today we caught the Cirque Polynesian circus act at the Boardwalk and afterwards, indulged the kids in a few rides. Cameron was clearly still tired from last night’s heavy partying (we spent the morning swimming and the rest of the day at Heather and Assaf’s–got there in the early afternoon and Tom and the kids stayed while I had a rare dinner-out-without-the-fam with a couple of good friends of mine way back from my AOL days).
Dylan initially did not want to see the Circus, but as soon as we saw the performers ready to get up on stage, all dressed up in their costumes, he gained a ton of new enthusiasm! Plus, we met Taliana and P. there as well, so he was pretty happy to see his buddies.
Dylan is now tall enough to ride so many more of the rides there, but he is still super reluctant to go…even when Taliana offered to ‘chaperone’ him (she is clearly super proud to be big enough to qualify for this role!). Luckily, his single-minded focus on the cave train and downright pill-y attitude towards other rides didn’t deter the girls from enjoying themselves (here they are on a sickening spinny ride called The Starfish).
Of course, the Cave Train (and Auntie Heather) always cheers our boy up!
Cameron finally succumbed to sleep after we got off Ghostblasters, but we also left the park shortly after that and, for some reason, her big eyes just popped open again in the parking lot! Total nap time: 15 minutes??
But, improvements to her castle in the backyard had to be made–and prior to that, she was just as amped up as the other kids to go ride bikes across the street.
Dylan, incidentally, is just getting better and better at biking. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised! We’re definitely pleased! He’s even beginning to improve on using those coaster brakes.
More sidewalk chalk art!
This time, we started the fire pit early enough to squeeze in some post bbq s’mores making…And, afterwards, the kids went up on their “stage” to perform their circus acts. It was pretty darn cute–lots of attempted gymnastic poses, twists and twirls and attempted cartwheels, ending in a nice bow!
After the girls (Taliana and P.) went home, we prepped for bedtime…and Dylan came up with his own little routine. Video soon….
