This year, we have a lot of new ornaments, several of which were made by the kids! They made some at Studio Sprout and some others at my company holiday party.

Every year, they each get to pick a new one, too. This year, Dylan picked a wooden nutcracker and Cameron picked a monkey (of course!)!

Cindy, Jeff and the kids came for soup last Saturday and Jason requested that I take this picture of Chloe in his beanie. He said, “you must take a picture of Chloe. This is adorable.”

He’s such a sweetie. Also, he’s in travel hockey, so just as they were leaving, we wished him luck on his game (which was going to be the next day). His response: “Thanks! But I don’t need it” !

We had just a few friends over for soup the other night–didn’t have the bandwidth for a full-blown soup party this year–and out came the plasma cars.

We’d put the plasma cars out of indoor-use-commission a few months back, but during the get-together, the kids unparked them. We let them do it because it was such a fun thing for all of them to do and it turned out to be a great ice-breaker for Ellie to get to know the Santa Cruz kids better!

We never put the cars back away since our kids continued to want to use them and this was just tooo cute! Chloe loves riding on these!!

What was it? Just a couple of pieces of peppermint candy, but I loved how Dylan wanted to give us a gift and he took the time to make some wrapping paper out of plain white paper, etc. Love this kid.

In the blur and haze of Saturday morning, I forgot to bring my camera with me to the tree farm!!

Tom was working in the morning, so we had to meet him at the farm and I needed to shop for latke ingredients (in bulk at Costco!) before tree-cutting! Luckily, the new phone has a decent camera (8 MP!!).

We missed lighting the menorah on the first night of Chanukah because of the holiday party, but we resumed on Day 2!

We went to see “Honk” (Shakespeare Santa Cruz’s holiday production based on the Ugly Duckling story) with HAKT and Heather’s dad Dennis and then reconvened at our house for latkes and the menorah lighting.

This past weekend was another busy one. On Friday, Dylan spent the night at HAKT’s house. He now goes to their house after school on Fridays, partly to facilitate sleep-over plans like this! I will also say that it was the kids’ idea (Taliana’s and Dylan’s) to switch their CKC days from Thursday to Friday so that they could “get started on their weekends early” (nearly verbatim…)

The next day, we sped up to Crest Ranch to get our holiday trees and then sped back down to get ready for my company’s holiday party.

I love these parties. It’s our second one and it’s alllll about the kids.

Dylan had zero Santa fear. He remembered he got exactly what he asked for last year (walkie talkies), so he couldn’t wait to open his gift.

Also, he wanted to get in close so he could inspect the beard.

Train to Christmastown
Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

The day after the big Late November/Early December bdays (Taliana’s and Uncle Jeff’s), we finally took our train ride on the new Diesel engine in town. This is the train that came by a couple of weeks earlier during the Rail to Trail Corridor ribbon cutting ceremony. We’d gotten tickets for this special seasonal train ride and promptly forgot about them, soooo we had to buy another set of tix. Boo. But, was it worth it?
