This picture was just too cute to pass up. You know, you say, “cheeese” and this is what you get!
Despite my best efforts to just quietly let my bday pass (especially since it was the kids’ first day of school this year), HAT made a cake for me anyway.
The kids will tell you I’m mad about geocaching these days. Tom has taught them the word “junkie” and when I climb back into the car these days, Cameron’s first question is often, “Mama, did you find the geocache??”
So, I got a chocolate cake (baked by Heather) decorated with a compass and each of these sweet li’l ones decorated a quadrant!
They’re all so sweet and so full of personality!
Then, I forced everyone to geocache (Tom gave me a new handheld GPS unit for better geocaching accuracy!). Luckily, we found both of the hides we were looking for (it’s so much less fun for the kids when we come up empty-handed!)! This is the largest container we’ve found so far! And, believe it or not, it was tough to find!! We found old underwear (big ew) before we found this big tub!!
We had to pace a bit to keep this one calm and Tom, especially, was getting antsy about leaving because she was so fussy! But, we persevered!
Here she is before she started getting tired of being pressed up against my sweaty shirt (it was another searing hot day).
As I mentioned, we found 2 caches that day! The pics are in reverse order, so this is when we were hiking back down to the second cache which happened to be on our way back to the car.
At first, Dylan didn’t want to go, so I think he and Chloe and Tom stayed behind in the car. We were all really glad Dylan changed his mind!
Photo evidence of the first geocache find of that day!
All in all, I think everyone had fun!
It’s been a while since my side of the family celebrated the Leo and Virgo bdays. Tyler (8/13) celebrated his 9th(!!), Cameron (8/12) her 3rd, Rob his 26th(9/5) and, I celebrated my 101011rd. This celebration was way back before we left for LA!! Datestamp in Flickr says it was 8/26! I guess it’s been difficult to keep up with the blog lately…!
Anyway, the party was another fun celebration with the family whom we hadn’t seen in quite some time! And, Auntie Cindy made special beet-sweetened princess cupcakes for Li’l Ms. Diva Jr.
Clearly, Chloe is not always sure of her family’s sanity. She is a smart cookie.
And, apparently, Dylan is a skeptic as well!
I don’t know why Dylan thinks this is funny, but I’m glad he has a big smile on his face!
Dylan really dug Cameron’s new kaleidoscope!
Here’s the bday celebrant checking out another gift.
I love this picture….
Chloe was really interested in a lot of stuff on the floor! She was skooching and rotating herself all over the place!
Chloe is a natural at tearing paper (who woulda thunk??)
Look at her go! Such determination on her sweet little face!
We gave Tyler a couple of cookbooks–Green Eggs and Ham and Roald Dahl’s Revolting Recipes. I love how he was studying the recipes so intently!
Of course, Chloe had to try the glasses.
Lola’s got some mad crocheting skills. Too bad Chloe was a) to big for that adorable purple and white tutu and b totally unwilling to wear it for even a little while! Still, we’re keeping it for her in her little Treasures box.
Another year under our belts!
You learn about things like “mother ships with big guns” when you have older boy cousins who play Halo on their xBox. It isn’t the best, but it’s sweet how they want to find ways to play together!
Chloe’s a cutie!! So far, Chloe is a very cheerful baby gal! She cracks up when she hears other people around her laughing!
This was at last week’s soccer game (Taliana’s). Dylan took a break from climbing a tree with Norry to exchange smiles with Chloe…Sweet times!
Taliana’s team was playing at the school, so we ambled on over to go check it out. Her team is already playing a full field!! If Dylan sticks with it (or if either of the girls play soccer), they’re going to be getting a lot of running in!!
It was super hot last weekend, so I guess the 2 big kids wanted to cool down in the grass!

Overall, their team did great. They had great sportsmanship, nobody had a tantrum or argued with the coach about who was playing where, etc., and, most importantly, Dylan left with a big grin on his face!
Dylan and Cameron were running separate races which meant that Tom and I had to split up and could only watch 1 kid do their event.
I actually strategized how we might possibly see both, but when I saw just how crowded it was at Dylan’s “corral,” I knew I couldn’t abandon him (Tom went with Cameron; I went with Dylan)!
I told Dylan I wouldn’t be able to run with him with Chloe strapped to my chest, so he should just do his best effort and Tom would be waiting for him at the Finish.
As it turns out, both kids did stellar. And, Chloe, well, she hung out and remained jolly up until she sacked out just before Dylan started his run!
