Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

So, here’s Chloe on the gym floor at Aidan’s 3rd birthday. We met Aidan and his mom at Junebug’s and we’re now taking Music Together classes…well, together! Despite having come directly from SF and being somewhat tired from the trip (Cameron didn’t nap on the way home, as we’d hoped), both girls were in pretty good spirits for the party.

It was also really nice to have vegan pizza available for us to eat! Also, there were going to be cupcakes, but the bakery failed to deliver on their order! Luckily, we brought Cameron a slice of cake from home!

While we were here at the party, Dylan and Tom were at a new playground on a play date with Marlon (Dylan’s buddy from Kindergarten)! They apparently had a blast zipping around on their scooters for hours!

San Francisco

the girls in SF
Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

Tom had another CSU conference and this time it was in SF! Tom took the train up to the city early on Thursday morning and I drove up with the kids after Dylan’s school day ended. We were all pretty excited about it as these trips are always good fun for us, but boy did we get a crummy room. Moral of the hotel story: don’t stay at the Powell Hotel. The Powell cable car turntable is right outside the door, sure, but the rooms were tiny, the bedskirt was ripped, previous guests have complained about bedbugs, and it’s pet-friendly!

But, of course, we didn’t let a shabby, over-priced room get us totally down! While Tom was at his meeting on Friday morning, the kids and I took a short stroll over to Yerba Buena Gardens to ride the carousel and to explore the Children’s Creativity Museum. He met us there after his meeting ended and, from there, we ambled back to Union Square and took the cable car to the Cable Car Museum, a Dylan must-see!

Chloe was happy! Give this girl some O’s and she’s good to go!

We couldn’t stay too long in SF since we had a bday party to attend (and a playdate) on Saturday, but we enjoyed the time we spent there. We had superb food at Loving Hut (across the street from the hotel); Source and Herbivore. We decided that , of all the CSU conferences so far, this was the worst accommodations, but the best food!

practicing standing
Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

Just 2 weeks ago, Chloe was continuing to work on her standing skills. Now, she’s actually taken some steps! Yes, actual steps!! Last night, she took 2 teeny tiny steps. They were small, but also definitely steps!

Immediately afterward, Dylan came over to give her a big hug and said, “Good job, Chloe! You’re such a good walker for your age!” I just loved that!

So, today, she’s just been practicing and has repeatedly succeeded in walking about 2-6 steps at every attempt. It’s pretty hard to believe that she’s already at this point. I know we sound like broken records when we say time has really flown by, but it really has!

Pretty soon, we’ll really have our hands full…! Chloe is already so good at quickly finding choking hazards on all fours; one shudders to think how much faster she’ll be once she starts running!

Oh, my goodness. She’s almost 1! Also, she’s almost walking…and she’s discovered all sorts of likes and dislikes. She knows when she wants something and will let you know if that something is taken away before she’s ready to give it up!

So far, strong preference for fruits over veggies–and I doubt this will change, given the preferences of the older kids!

And, she LOVES interacting with folks. Roll a ball to her and she’ll laugh and pass it back to you! She’ll happily share her O’s, too. Time is passing quickly–and it’s tough to hit the pause button with the bigger kids growing, too, but we’re trying to enjoy every moment!!

Chloe, we love you!!

Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

Chloe is starting off the new year with a new front tooth and another one coming in fast on its heels! Also, she’s ambling along with her walkers, climbing up on to the train table (eeks! She uses the toy bins and the trampoline as steps up), eating brussels sprouts, and she will soon start whole grain pasta! Woot! Since she started really standing up (shortly before Dylan’s winter break), she’s really improved a lot! I feel like I should be doing squats with her!

Later in the evening, once Heather and her dad were back from bringing David to the airport, we started up with the New Year’s gambling games–a tradition in Heather’s family.

Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

We spent our final day in Los Angeles at Griffith Park. We love this place! And, there were more trains to ride. Last time, we rode the train by the ponies and this time, we headed in the direction of Travel Town.

We lucked out and got to ride the LA Live Steamers railroad, too. It’s only open on Sundays!

Since Chloe is too small, we couldn’t ride and then Cameron fell asleep on Tom’s shoulder while they were waiting in line! So, he put her back in the car and Chloe and I kept her company. When we saw the train start to go by, we dashed out of the car to try to get a pic. This is as good as it got!

Our next stop was Travel Town! Once Tom and Dylan returned to the car, Dylan and I took off to find a geocache. We had no luck, but there was another one nearby in Travel Town that supposedly had a train geocoin in it, so we decided to give it a go (and luckily, weather pretty much cooperated!)

Dylan got a train goodie. I’d left all of our geocache trade items in the car, so we decided to head back to the car, check on Cameron’s status and pick up our trade items.

Cameron woke up while we were relaying train ticket info to Tom, so we all headed back out.

Originally uploaded by coffywoman.

We spent one day at Disneyland–a very busy day, I might add! We were told that we might be turned away because the park might be at capacity! While we sat and ate our lunch (brought from home–middle Eastern food that Grandma Sharon got for us as well as Gangadin leftovers and sushi from Whole Foods for the kids), we decided it might not be such a bad thing! We could check out California Adventure for free (which we’ve never done!!). As it turns out, we made it into Disneyland.

My MouseWait Android app had the crowd index at 88/100. We could barely move the stroller through the crowds and we never made it to Small World because we waited until evening and, by then, the line was an hour wait. Also by then, the kids were pretty much done. Nobody even wanted to stay for fireworks!

Anyway, here are a few pictures from the day.
